Christian Schmid leads Boston Consulting Group's global commercial banking, capital markets, and investment banking (CCIB) business globally. He also serves as Chairman of the Board at BCG Expand, a benchmarking firm supporting global banking clients with data-driven insights and strategic benchmarks. He is a core member of BCG's Financial Institutions, Public Sector, and Technology Advantage practices, and is known for building high-performing teams and delivering results.
Christian advises top-tier banks, market infrastructure players, and public institutions on large-scale transformations, strategy, and innovation. Since joining BCG in 2000, Christian has worked across Zurich, New York, London, Chicago, Vienna, and Eastern Europe. Prior to joining BCG, he held key account roles at IBM Switzerland. He brings over 30 years of experience in financial services and public sector consulting.
